Based on this premise, the Real Estate Industry has taken many steps to insure people are treated fairly: property disclosure statements, title searches, site surveys, zoning and assessment disclosures, agency disclosure, etc. etc. and most recently home inspections. These are all very important for the buyers, so they can make an educated decision on one of the most important purchases in their lifetime.
